Honoring a life of resilience, service, and devotion to family

About Ollie

Ollie Jacob Parks was a long time Powell County resident whose life reflected resilience, service, and devotion to family.

Born in LaGrange, Kentucky, she lost her mother at age ten. With her father disabled from a World War I injury, Ollie stepped into a role far beyond her years—raising her four younger siblings and keeping the family together.

After marrying her husband, Victor Parks, she built a large and loving family of her own. Together they raised 11 children, and over time welcomed 54 grandchildren and great‑grandchildren—nearly all proud graduates of Powell County High School.

Ollie's life was defined by quiet strength, generosity, and a deep commitment to helping others. The PCHS STEM Scholarship Fund was created to honor her legacy by supporting future Powell County graduates who demonstrate both STEM promise and financial need. Through this fund, her spirit of service continues forward into the next generation.
